New White Elephant Pictures

We dropped off some new fabulous things to our space at The White Elephant Antiques. Thought I would share ...

 

 

 

 

This industrial piece is an old shelving unit from a factory, it looks great showcasing ironstone!

 

 

This metal shelving is from the same factory and really looks good with our collection of vintage books.

 

Love this funky hand made metal chair (there are a pair!) and the botanical antique prints are so beautiful grouped together.

 

What a ledger book!  It is from 1909-1911 . . .

New Look for Smitten!

There is a new look at Smitten!  We spent some time last week moving and rearranging the store.  It has been six months since opening day, and it was time for a fresh look!

 

Gardening for Spring . . . the hand-made potting table is perfect for all of our beautiful old terra cotta pots.  Each one is unique and has wonderful patina!

I am crazy about this rusted old iron pot stand . . .

 

 

What a great find this old store counter was! It would make a perfect kitchen island with it's sliding doors and divided drawers!

 

These are very old hand blown fly catchers from Holland!  We found them packed in hay in their original crate!

 

Have you ever seen a Giant Seed Pod?!

 

Love this old lingerie cabinet with mixed hardware knobs and the old parlor chair from the 1930's.

 

We refinished this old music cabinet to give it an updated look.  It is such a unique piece now!

 

This handmade cabinet (from old wood flooring and bead board walls) works as a perfect display for our ironstone and linens.

Spring at Smitten!

Just wanted to add some new photos of Smitten.  The store is ready for Spring!

 

 

The front table is full of Spring animals!  The ducks and hens are so adorable!  They are each hand made from natural grasses . . .

 

 

We love this vintage couch!  It looks like it is right out of the Anthropologie catalog!

 

The back of the sofa is still upholstered in the original 1920's fabric.  Love it!

 

 

 

Spring wouldn't be the same with out nest and eggs!

 

 

 

I just love this shabby chest of drawers (with fabulous hardware!) and the pair of old shutters!

Burlap Curtains for Sale!

We are really excited about finding a new source for burlap curtains!  They come in two lengths and two styles.  They are beautiful!

These are the hand smocked curtain panels.  The panels are 42" wide and come in 84" long for $ 108.00  or 108" long for $130.00.  (They are also available in teastain or white organdy and ecru or white linen!)

These are the tab top curtains.  The panels are 38"wide and come in 84" long for $37.50 or 108" long for $48.50.  (They are also available in ecru or white linen!)

White Elephant Antiques

There’s something about March that we love.  It’s the last hurrah of winter and the first whisper of spring.  Slowly our spirits awaken from a rest and new ideas spring forth.  It’s time to plant seeds that when nurtured will grow and become our future.

This month we “planted our garden” in a new location……we set up a booth at White Elephant Antiques in Dallas!  We’ve always loved shopping this part of the design district coming away with unique finds…hopefully you will too!

It just seemed right to open this booth with the most beautiful wildflower pressings we could find.  We came upon a book from 1913 full of 50 pages of pressed wildflowers complete with description, classification, date and numbered.  We had them professionally framed with a burlap mat and dark frame.  The collection of 25 is offered in sets of 4 and line the walls of our booth at White Elephant.  Here’s a preview in pictures, but we hope you’ll check them out in person.

White Elephant Antiques is located in the Dallas Design District off of Industrial Blvd.  They are open 7 days a week.

I just love these vintage chairs with new linen upholstery.

 

Luann's handmade coffee bean bag backed pillows with cut linen flower appliques.

 

The fabulous green French shutters added a nice color backdrop to our space.

   

Our favorite "cubby" shelving is full of vintage papers, notebooks, ironstone, and other small finds.

 

 

The walls are full with the framed botanical collection.

 

The old notebook had been closed for so many years that the dried botanical has left an incredible "print" over the handwritten description page!

 

 

Serendipity Market!

It all started with the definition of "Serendipity":

a talent for making fortunate discoveries while searching for other things...

That's exactly what this market was about...we traveled to Canton with our porch "stuff" searching for a beautiful show and hoping to sell everything we brought...but what we discovered was fortunate indeed.

We found we LOVE what we do, we LOVE our friends who do the same thing, we LOVE the people who shop with us and "get" the idea of buying something that has the love and patina of years past...and that we are indeed "fortunate" to realize this and are able to do  something that makes us feel good during these times.

We hope that all who joined us at LaurieAnna's felt the same way and made some fortunate discoveries while searching for other things.

Our sincere thanks goes to LaurieAnna for inviting us to join in this event, letting us completely take over her front porch, thanks to her adorable staff of beautiful women who inspired us, and thanks to all of you who came!  We look forward to the next time we meet!

This beautiful bird cage was taken home to be a part of a wedding!

 

 

 

 

These one-of-a-kind bottles are very old and were found at the bottom of the ocean.  They are individually unique and crusted with barnacles and sea shells.

 

 

The wonder and beauty of nature.  These REAL bird's nest were hand gathered and placed in vintage containers.  They are fabulous!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

These 4 botanical prints are reproductions of antique prints and have been professionally framed.
