One of the biggest pleasures in this business is meeting inspirational people who are passionate about real food and thier way of life. Yesterday, we left the Patina Green store on a dreary afternoon and headed north to visit two local farms.
Our first stop was the kitchen of Leslie Luscombe of Luscombe Farms in Anna, TX. Leslie is a 4th generation living and working on the family farm. It is a gorgeous piece of property filled with memories and stories from the past. The Luscombe jalapeno Jellies that are made in her farm kitchen are award winning and used often as a spread on Robert's sandwiches. We sell all three of her delicious flavers in our market.
Mom and I were crazy for the old cow and chicken barns, and the gorgeous nature around us . . .
Oh - and we immediately fell in love with our tour guide around the farm, Roman.
The farm is having their annual event, Springtime on the Hill until April 29th. You can enjoy a homemade lunch by Leslie, then stroll through her families amazing iris garden across the street. There are over 800 named varieties of bearded irises in bloom. Gorgeous.

On our second stop, we visited the outdoor produce gardens and incredible greenhouse of our new friend, Joni. Joni has taken a favorite hobby, the love of gardening, to a larger scale and soon . . . into a career.
Her magical greenhouse . . .
Robert and Joni lost in the basil . . .
We were thrilled to handpick 36 fresh green bell peppers . . .
This is one happy Chef . . .
There were many other finds in Joni's garden . . . no pesticides here . . . just REAL produce . . .
